Opteka Opt 15 has a 15-inch LCD screen has a very high resolution of 1024 x 768 and wide viewing angles. It has a large built-in memory of 256 MB for storing all JPEG, JPEG Motion & AVI files. The 1GB built-in memory lets you use your memory card in your camera and at the same time as your pictures are shown on the frame. As the aspect ratio is 4:3, there is no stretching of images. The images are crisp and by pressing setup on the remote the contrast, brightness, tint, and color can easily be adjusted. It is capable of handling images of less than 12 mega pixel. However, pictures taken in portrait mode need to be resampled otherwise the upper and lower parts of the pictures are cropped.
A slideshow of image files of up to 2mp, having multiple transition effects can be created and the speed of transitions can be varied. Larger files can be reduced using compression soft wares. It is compatible with a large number of flash storage devices including SD and XD flash memory cards. Images edited using programs like Light room or other programs like iPhoto, Picasa,
Canon Easy Photo Print EX and Corel Photo-Paint X3 can also be viewed.
It not only has two built-in stereo speakers, which can play music during a slide show but can also play videos having a resolution of 640×480 in AVI-format. However, the playback is not smooth and the sound is a bit thin. The frame comes with a small remote control that makes it easier to use. It is great for browsing and allows you to zoom in several times so that a portion of the image fills the frame.
The frame is wooden in nature and looks very decorative. The frame consists of 5 button : Play/Pause/Enter, next, exit, menu and Previous and it is wall mountable if set on a landscape mode.
The frame runs on an AC adapter and to connect the adapter to the frame, the panel at the back of the frame has to be removed. Once it has been removed, it cannot be placed back.
However, this feature may seem like a disadvantage but it allows the adapter to be replaced, if it ever fails. Overall, it has a great picture quality and the screen is very user-friendly.
