PanTouch 8.0-InchThe Pan digital has revealed its new 8.0-inch PanTouch digital photo frames having LCD display with a high resolution of 800 x 600 and a 4:3 display.

The features of the new PanTouch frame include that its user-friendliness by implementing touch-operation interface which allows photos to be viewed as if they were pages of an album. Using compression software’s, the frame with a built in memory of 512 MB, is able to hold up to 3200 images without distorting or cropping them.

Images can be loaded through the 6-in-1 built-in card reader or the standard USB port for connection with thumb drives, cameras or a computer. A Wi-Fi adapter can connect the frame to a main computer. Connecting it to a computer is not mandatory but with a computer attached to the frame it is easier to handle all the files by simply “dragging”. The frame also includes calendar and alarm clock functions and programmable off/on times. It can also play mp3 music through its built-in stereo speakers or through its audio-out port connected to your speaker system. Alongside this, it is also capable of playing videos of AVI or MPEG format.

As soon as the frame is switched on, the images appear in a slideshow mode, and a selection of images to include in the slideshow can be made. Changing the durations between the images and selection of various transitions can be done. Any audio mp3 file stored in the frames folder can be played during the show. However, the frame does not support mp3 music files downloaded from licensed internet sites.

Like any other gadget, the PanTouch digital does have a few drawbacks. The frames show a 16-bit color rather than a 24-bit color, which means that instead of having millions of colors it has just thousand colors. The frame is connected to the main power by a 5 ft reach cord and may have to be plugged in an extension if the main switch is far, leaving an unattractive mess of cables. The built-in speakers sound tinny and while the frame is interchangeable, no additional frames are included.

However if all you want to do is play back pictures loaded from a flash drive or a hard rive, then the Pan digital 8-inch photo frame with good picture quality, built-in speakers and touch interface is a reasonable deal.
